May Mail Club: Monikka Eliah

Our May featured writer is the incredible Monikka Eliah, sharing a piece that ruminates on interiority and the public and private self.

How would you describe your feminism? Practical, inclusive, evolving and necessary.

What preoccupies you as a writer? I am eternally fascinated by human bodies and the tensions between who we are in public spaces and who we are in private spaces.

What are you reading? Family Lore by Elizabeth Acevedo

Tell us about your piece being featured in Feminartsy this month. The story is based on a real interaction with a rideshare driver. It was one of the strangest encounters I had ever had and one that forced me to examine the expectations projected on to me by strangers and how I meet or reject those expectations.
